A Podiatrist's Holiday Gift Guide

With the holiday season now in full swing, we caught up with one of our favorite podiatrists, Dr Emily Keeter, to get the scoop on the foot care products she recommends the most (and has on her own wish list!). Read below for some of the best ways to take care of your feet after a long day of holiday shopping and throughout the year!

Holiday gifts recommended by a podiatrist including Pedestrian Project's Cracked Heel Repair and Relief Balm, Mr. Pumice, Vim & Vigr compression socks, Mr. Green nail clippers and Nike Alphafly 2 running sneakers

The Cracked Heel Treatment That Saves My Feet

Pedestrian Project Cracked Heel Repair. As a podiatrist, I’ve seen them all and tried more than a few, but my hands down favorite is Pedestrian’s Cracked Heel Repair. It smooths away rough skin and heals the fissures or vertical cracks around the heel bone. Apply it twice a day, slip on some socks and you’ll start seeing results in just a week.

My Favorite No Mess Nail Clippers

Mr Green. All nail clippers are not created equal! They may seem like a commodity, but there can actually be a pretty meaningful difference in quality. I’m a big fan of Mr Green. They are ergonomically designed so they’re easy to grip, the blades are sharp and cut the nail cleanly without any splash, and they’re made of high quality stainless steel so they won’t rust.

The Socks Everyone Should Be Wearing

Vim & Vigr Compression Socks. If you haven’t started wearing compression socks, let this be a public service announcement, get yourself a pair! They’re great for swelling, inflammation, pain, varicose veins and supporting the lymphatic system. Vim & Vigr makes a nice 15-20 mmhg sock, which is a good starting point if you’re new to the category. They’re easy to pull on, super cute, and plenty supportive for everyday wear.

What I Use To Manage Pain Before And After Every Race

Pedestrian Project Relief Balm. As some of you may know, I’m an endurance athlete in my spare time and travel around the world to compete in running and cycling events. That means my feet and legs are often recovering! The product I take with me wherever I go is the Relief Balm from Pedestrian Project. It has Hemp Oil, Arnica and pure seed butters so it’s really natural and provides next level soothing and pain relief.

My Simple Secret To Smooth Skin

Mr Pumice Pumi Bar. It just may be the most gratifying 30 seconds of your morning! Gently buff your heels and soles in the shower, dry off and follow with a foot moisturizer or heel balm. Mr Pumice is a medium grit, double sided bar that’s easy to hold and easy to clean. It’s great for calluses, cracked heels and any other rough spots on your body.

What I’ll Be Running In This Winter

Nike Alphafly 2. A running sneaker is a very personal choice and depends on the anatomy of your foot, the type of running you do and any previous injuries you’ve had, but my go-to is the Nike Alphafly. It’s light, it has a medium heel drop and a carbon fiber plate technology that helps propel you forward, which is great if you’re trying to cut your race time.

And there you go! It’s always a good idea to talk to your own physician to make sure you’re making choices that are right for you and your unique feet, but hopefully this gives you a good place to start!

Have a wonderful holiday season!
